Poetry Friday

New Hampshire is blanketed with white, all tucked up for winter. It's been ice box cold, and we made a wood fire to stay toasty. A comfy chair, a terrific book (just began Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes) and a warm fire - such bliss. Matt rounds up today at Radio, Rhythm and Rhyme

Here's my haiku for winter.

grass blades
genuflect to winter–
dormant green power

  3. I'm with Robyn - love that word 'genuflect' --and the photo too. Don't freeze!

  4. It's funny--just the other day I was thinking about how, as a child, we used to call the refrigerator the "ice box." But then I became sophisticated... ;-)

  5. The haiku is gorgeous. I envy those who can express so much in a few words. I am also thrilled that you're reading Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes. Do let me know how you find it.

  6. Oh, yeah -- genuflect. PERFECT word choice. And Something Wicked This Way Comes -- an all-time favorite. You'll have to read it again in late summer for a whole different effect.

  7. Thank you, All, for visiting! I like the way that haiku turned out. And I am immensely enjoying Something Wicked This Way Comes! I hope I can formulate my thoughts at the end. The book is unlike any other I've read.

    1. Hi, Fats. Oh, I love that book. It's unlike any other I've read. It must be magical realism. Bradbury grounds his narrative in a landscape we know, but introduces fantastical elements. It's a nail-biter.
